It all depends on ones point of view. I have looked at the code and the
debug logs. But for now lets say, there is a bug in the code, that is
masked in 8.3 filename systems. It could verywell be that the bug would also
be apparent if makenl was a real windows application.
So indeed, from my point of view, your option only works if makenl runs in
DOS or or a DOSbox. If DOS and DOSbox are the norm in Fidonet, then my view
is indeed an exeption.
