I vaguely recall discussion of HTMLterm probably 15 years ago. At the time I was
interested in it just on general principle because it seemed like a wacky
innovation. I didn't really understand what it was meant to be, though; the
concept seemed a bit slippery. Today I'd be a lot more skeptical of it. Is it a
terminal? A browser? Both? Where is the line drawn? Why not just use a browser?
I have mixed feelings about the flashy features in SyncTERM today too, but at
least in those cases there's prior art and justification for them existing in a
terminal emulator. And no reason other terminals can't or shouldn't implement
them.
