Bill,
BG>Where in VADV does it set the paths to the message in and outbound directory
BG>I've got c:\fido\in0 as inbound and c:\fido\out as outbound, but need to
BG>change it to c:\irex\in and c:\irex\out.
I'm doing this from the main VADV32 window, and not from the command
prompt. First for OUTBOUND Mail...
1) Click on Settings
2) Click on Virtual Advanced Configuration
3) Click on Networks
4) Click on FIDONet
5) Click on Edit Dial List
6) Click on the desired node
Look toward the bottom for "storage directory"...that's where the
outbound files for that node will go. You're limited to 8 characters.
That directory will be created under C:\VA\FIDOMAIL\OUT (noted below).
You can change that path to whatever you want...the default is
C:\VA\FIDOMAIL -- with subdirectories of IN and OUT...at least, that's
what it is on my system.
As for INBOUND, do steps 1-4 above. The network directory path can be
set here...mine is C:\VA\FIDOMAIL -- the default inbound directory under
that is \IN0 -- for OUTBOUND mail, the directory I have is
C:\VA\FIDOMAIL\OUT -- with subdirectories for each node, as noted above.
Besides this setup, I use the batchfile commands of COPY and MOVE,
where needed, to get the packets to the outbound directory.
I use Internet Rex 2.29 for INBOUND and OUTBOUND processing of mail
packets via BinkP. Internet Rex (IREX) *MUST* be registered to gain
access to all of its features, plus having more than the limit of 2
nodes. I'd purchase the 1000 node server version (I think it's around
$50) from BMT Micro (I think they're located in North Carolina)...that
version has all the features.
Under Internet Rex (REXCFGW for Windows...run it in Advanced Mode),
under Node Manager, click on the desired node, and look for the Mailbox
directory. That way, you can specify a path for that node's mail. It
doesn't do much good routing stuff outside of FIDONet Network Zones
(i.e. GatorNet) to FIDONet...and vice versa. For instance, you can set
up a subdirectory to Kris Jones' system as GATORNET under
C:\VA\FIDOMAIL\OUT -- then VADV32 puts the outgoing mail for GatorNet in
there.
While I will IMPORT messages into VADV32 after the software switch to
GT Power, only the areas in Message Board 1 will show up on the website,
as I'll set the access level to 255...so, I at least can update the
totals of the messages. The net count will be updated, but the call
count will NOT be, since VADV32's Telnet Server will NOT be activated.
Instead I'll use NetFoss with GT Power 20.
The tossers for GT Power (it requires 2) will change to InterEcho and
FIDOGate. But, with weather issues, and having to install Windows 7,
it'll be a few more days before I can get the software switch made.
I hope that's not too confusing.
Daryl
