I haven't used a check in years now.. There was an apartment I lived in until 20
15 where I had to pay my rent via check and drop it off at the leasing office, b
ut that's the last time I used checks. I live in another apartment now, and the
y allow paying rent online, and their system allows you to put in a bank account
(routing number and account number) to debit your account directly, or you can
also use a debit or credit card to pay rent online here.
There are a lot of ways to pay for things these days. PayPal is one, but there
are also more recent things such as CashApp and Venmo (which have smartphone app
s you can use to send/request money), as well as Zelle - It seems Zelle doesn't
have a stand-alone app, but it's a system supported by some banks where you can
send/request money without sharing your bank account details.
