I think the bigger issue is losing the checkbook.
I was intrigued when I saw at a Wallgreen's pharmacy, that by writing
and signing a check that you were authorizing an ACH debit in the amount
on the check. They would not cash the check and instead would destroy
it.
I wondered why they would do that - it's probably safer and therefore
cheaper to do ACH than to clear a handwritten check.
I've bought and sold a couple of cars. We need a better way than paper
checks to buy and sell items. I did do a bank wire for one car, we were
on the same bank...
