Actually, I can't stand screen readers.

There's one built into Knoppix, tho hell if I could figure out how to
turn it OFF. Was about to drive me mad, and really lagged the system.
(Puts Knoppix on the "no way" pile.)

And it's not even the aging eyes so much as that the bigger the screen
the higher the resolution and the smaller everything gets...

When I had to replace the dead monitor, the only monitor that didn't
make me want to hurt someone was a 27" (Samsung S27D300), and at
1920x1080 (only resolution that wasn't blurry or distorted), and 120dpi
(to make print a readable size instead of microscopic), and the fact
that I use a grey workspace background (so it doesn't burn holes in my
eyes) ... that single-pixel-wide application blink cursor is just about
invisible any time it's within text. It needs to be wider, and while I'm
wishing, bright red.

Protip: install Mozilla-based browsers BEFORE switching from 96dpi to
120dpi. Otherwise stupid browser messes up font/image size of
everything, which turns all the webpage widgets blurry.

Windows' mouse pointer can be easily found by setting CTRL key to ping
the spot. I think there's a similar setting in some linux distros.
