Hello Marc!

16 Dec 20 18:52, you wrote to all:

ML> In the sample for the NODES.CFG the line reads:

 ML> #node 5047/999 hostname;* passwword c

ML> What does the * signify?

DNS lookup via the default domain, which should be set to binkp.net.

ML> Is there or is there not a space before the password?

Yes.

ML> The last character, the flavour, if it is a c, does that mean that

ML> regardless of the flavour of the .flo file? All mine are .hlo and the

The flavor set here is used for files placed into the node's outbox.

ML> actual flavor is set (presently) in my IRex configuration. I am

You should configure your tosser to set the appropriate flavor for each node.

ML> What do I do with the 2 Points I have that do not have an internet

 ML> looks like this:

 ML> node 1:396/45.27 0.0.0.0; xxxxxxx h
 ML> node 1:396/45.28 0.0.0.0; xxxxxxx h

Use a - as a placeholder indicating the node has no hostname or IP address.

ML> The only thing I could think of to put for an address was the 0.0.0.0.
ML> Is this correct? On that same 2 lines you can see what I was asking
ML> about for the password; is that leading space supposed to be there -

The semicolon character shouldn't be there unless a node has more than 1
hostname. BinkD is probably interpreting the password as a second hostname for
that node, and using the flavor as a password.

 ML> My configuration reads:

 ML> domain fidonet Q:\\fido_out 1

ML> Not sure that that "1" is for. (?)

The 1 indicates the zone for files in your default outbound. With this
configuration, files for Zone 2 would be in Q:\fido_out.002.

ML> The tree of that directory looks like this:

 ML> +--Fido_Out
 ML> +--filehold
 ML> +--Out
 ML> +--018C002D.PNT
 ML> +--OUT.002
 ML> +--OUT.003
 ML> +--OUT.004
 ML> +--OUT.005
 ML> +--OUT.006

With it setup like this, you need the following:

domain fidonet Q:\\Fido_Out\\Out 1

BinkD should see the Out.<zone> directories for the other FidoNet zones, as
well as the 018C002D.PNT subdirectory for your points off of 1:396/45.

Andrew
