Boy, does this sound familiar, and I thought I was the only one.
I'm still 100Mb across the board with one 10Mb segment for some of my older
machines. 100Mb is "fine" for me based on what I do around the house, but I
wouldn't be surprised, if I really did some digging, if I wasn't even getting
that.
My cables are so ancient that I wouldn't be surprised if I was having a bunch of
dropped packets & overruns
Now I think about it, if I tried moving to 1 or 10Gb, I'd end up taking the
network down because my underspec'd file server couldn't take the load with
spinning rust and ZFS. I'm starting to depress myself with the amount of
upgrades needed here, it seems
