I see. So it seems to be Gentoo specific, then. I run multilib here also, and
here are the contents of my root directory in regards to /lib:
lib -> usr/lib
lib64 -> usr/lib
So yes, making symlinks was a great suggestion, since other distributions
already seem to be doing that. :)
