Most ANSI advertisements don't use cursor positioning codes and nowadays modern
tools (e.g. PabloDraw) can save directly to Ctrl-A file format.

It'd be better if the advertisements were posted in a neutral (e.g. ctrl-a) enco

True, but at least it could be a legible representation or decent approximation
that's still visible on the user's terminal. Just blinding sending ANSI sequence
s to the terminal is not a good idea.
