You get most of that by just using TLS (e.g. HTTPS). But yeah, VPNs can help to
hide your IP address or have you masquerade as an IP host from another network/l
ocation.

You don't normally use a VPN all the time for all traffic: Just when you need it
and only for the apps or systems that need it (not your entire LAN).
