I've heard Windows 11 generally only supports 8th-generation and newer Intel Cor
e processors (with some exceptions). So for your i7-7700, it's not just somethi
ng you can enable on the motherboard. I've read Microsoft apparently says Windo
ws is more stable on newer processors, and they want people to have a good exper
ience with Windows. I also read it may have something to do with the Spectre &
Meltdown CPU flaws that were revealed a few years ago, and Microsoft might not w
ant to have to include the software patches for those (the newer processors gene
rally have hardware fixes for those).
