MS Security Essentials does not patch vulnerabilities found in Windows
itself. Even MSE is on life support. It's no longer available for Windows XP and
virus definitions will no longer be updated after 2023 even for Win7.
The fact is, that unless you are enrolled in ESU, all Win 7 machines are
vulnerable. I get it, there are lots of reasons to use old software, but there
risks to doing that and it shouldn't be minimized.
