I am now officially confused! I deleted mbases.dat and copied a fresh one over
from a new install into a different directory, then I manually added all the
bases back and set newscan to YES (I have even tried NO) and still I am forced
to read the message bases and it will not let me quit until I have read all
messages in all bases. There has to be a way to fix this that I am missing,
especially if the problem is not located in mbases.dat
