not much other than asking questions to find out it is being done...

one needs the source code to find out unless it is documented in some docs
somewhere...

i had the max sources at one time but ran into a problem compiling them after
some changes were merged into the repo... that was way back when red hat linux
was still free, though... i've not looked at it since but as noted above, yeah, 
reading the code is the only real way to find out...
