Correct. Where you run into problems is systems that base their MSGID serial
number solely on time, ie: using the unix time (# of seconds since January 1,
1970.) This will cause duplicate serial numbers if a system is fast enough to
post more than 1 message per second. The MSGID standard specifies that the
serial numbers not repeat from a particular system within 3 years. The
standard, however, does not specify exactly how to achieve that.
Mark Lewis I believe had to contend with this in his PostIt! utility for
posting text files as messages.
