Hello All BBS programmers!

As you know the BACKBONE.NA file only holds Echo tags and the title for each
area - good to be used for auto adding new echo areas into a bbs system but no
support for the descriptions.

A new feature added for the Elist system that also fully supports the
BACKBONE.NA and .RPT files sent out monthly is the (Echo) descriptions files
that are stored within the descriptions directory and within that is the network
followed by the individual echo descriptions themselves, i.e.,

descriptions
descriptions/FIDO
echos within as ECHOTAG.DES

descriptions/FSXNET
echos within as ECHOTAG.DES

etc

These files can be submitted to myself or direct to 25/21 for those echos in
BACKBONE.RPT that currently do not have a description shown.

For such submissions the Format is AAA.BBB.DES

and the content is text of up to 75 characters (any more is ignored) and up to
15 lines. Blanks lines are also allowed between lines of text.

This means that two directories / folders are included within the monthly ELST
archive :

rules
descriptions

These descriptions can be used within a BBS system if you program for them in
similar way to that of the rules files which are in the form of ECHOTAG.RUL

Note that the Rules files can be of text lengths of up to 75 characters with an
unlimited number of lines.

By using these descriptions where a user say has requested the bbs to list a
specific one can make life a little easier for a new bbs user etc.

If you have any questions regarding the above by all means ask away and I will
try and help.

Vincent
