David,
DS>Now if I can just get the BBS to start up on reboot I'll be all set! :)
Years ago, when I was on MS DOS 5 and 6 -- and using both DESQView and
QEMM from Quarterdeck Software), I was running a single dial-up line on
the BBS.
At times, the system would hang. So, with a small answering machine
that I had, a friend (also a former BBS Sysop and ham radio operator),
rigged in a switch...where if the phone rang more than 3 times, it would
reboot the system. Then, in the autoexec.bat file, I had it to where
it'd reload the BBS automatically.
With Synchronet under Windows 7, I just have telnet and web...but I've
got so many required tasks that have to activate at reboot, that when
this occurs, I have to manually start the BBS. I also use PeerBlock to
block certain countries from connecting.
