Barry,
BM> As long as only an 'oops' and not an 'ohhh sheeeet'....!
It can be both. Sort of like the meme, where the baby has a
horrified look on his face, and exclaims "OMG!! That wasn't a
f@rt!!". Or, as they describe it in the hospital...a "Code Brown".
How's that for being original?? <G> And, apparently it happened
in another room (the patient pooped in the bed)...as the female
nurse who was supposed to give me a bath, got tied up in cleaning
up the crap...literally.
BM> And part of the function of a electrolytic capacitor is to remove AC
BM> ripples and line noise, not create it.
Speaking of capacitors, the air conditioner guy had to replace that in
the central air unit here, and add refrigerant...cost me $245. But, at
least it's comfortable in here, compared to what it is outside.
BM> The old one hardly generated any sort of warmth either and AFAIK
BM> didn't heat up after the failure either -- 'course the failure in the power
BM> supply could have fried the switch part and so nothing to create heat! (It
BM> looked unharmed; doesn't take much to open junctions.)
Some other components need a heat-sink (not sure how that's spelled) to dispel
the excess temperature.
