Hi Daryl!

DS> Got to make the money somehow.
BM> Hmm: "Will clean and diaper, $1,000 each."
 DS> $500 per butt cheek. <G>

Yes, but normally in pairs so no discount.

 BM> They're forecasting strong storms between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. this
 BM> afternoon. Right now (~7 a.m.) there's a colourful system along the
BM> northern boarder of Iowa and heading north-north-east so it's a
 BM> different cluster.
DS> We'll see strong storms late this week and over the weekend.
DS> There are heat advisories and excessive heat warnings for my
 DS> area.

We ended up getting nothing out of that forecast -- not recalling the
details but recall the afternoon was decent. ...Today (August 10) is
the one year anniversary of the derecho which ripped west-to-east
through Iowa and continued into Illinois. Lost power for five days.
Fortunately no damage to the house. This afternoon they're forecasting
high's in the mid-90's, heat index 105-110°, and probably storms late afternoon
and evening.

BM> Sort of reminds me of when I blew a UPS when testing a computer I was
BM> building: puch the power button, BAM!. Was years ago when the Power switch
BM> actually directly switched the power on and off. Found out they had wired
BM> the switch wrong, so pushing the switch caused a short (!).
DS> Did you have to get a new UPS??

Yup! I don't think the original (blown) one had a fuse/circuit
protection of any sort (and it wasn't a small nor cheap one). Remember
the poor thing was weakly beeping as if the AC power had failed, which confused
me -- did I blow a breaker? Knew something else was wrong
because of seeing a flash inside the switch (computer's side panel was
off). Wasn't sure about the power as there are two circuits up here --
not drawing tons of power, just the way the wiring is. Plus had at
least one other UPS up here so some devices would be running....

DS> S.P.O.C.K. - Society for the Prevention of Offensive Cruelty to
DS> Keyboards. Beam me up, Scotty. <G>
 BM> So there's a non-offensive cruelty?
 DS> Could be.

Hmmm: G-rated.....

DS> ... Let me know if you didn't receive this message.

I did but not sure if it was understandable.
