The other day the YouTube algorithm got something right again and stared
suggesting to me old episodes of a CBS program called Way Out. It was a
mid-season replacement fashioned to fill the other half of the hour that
included the all-time classic, The Twilight Zone.
I have watched a couple of episodes. One about a man who is dying that
gets talked into perserving his brain -- alive -- in a jar for scientific
research. The other was about a scientist who is testing a mood
modification technique on small mammals that is persuaded to test it on his
wife.
Both of them were pretty good. If you are a fan of the TV comedy, "WKRP in
Cincinnati," which aired roughly 20 years later, there was a bit of irony
in the second episode mentioned above. The actor who plays assistant to
the scientist performing psychological experiments in Way Out would make a guest
appearance on WKRP as a child psychologist with some fringe beliefs.
<grin>
If you are into older TV sci-fi offerings, like the Twilight Zone, Tales of
Tomorrow, the Outer Limits, or One Step Beyond, I would suggest checking
this one out.
