Assuming one knows a little about audio electronics: properly one needs
to match impedences and voltage levels. Not sure if I'd want to attach
a (solid state) Blu Ray player to a tube radio, but OTOH might be fun!

Several decades ago I 'inherited' a solid state tuner-amp -- didn't
work; ended up the winding in the primary of the power transformer had
opened. (According to the schematic there was a fusible link inside.)
Could find a proper replacement -- even contacted the manufacturer; sat
in the closet. After a couple of years had a use for it so dug it out
and started looking for the power transformer again. Had two
secondaries, both of which were common values but the combination was
not. Finally thought and thought about using two separate power
transformers -- possible problem with phasing? Figured the amp didn't
cost me anything and the worst that could happen would be a pile of ash.
Wired them in, flipped the switch, it worked! :) And it worked for
probably 10, 15 years! Probably not terribly energy efficient but the
lights didn't dim when it was on. <g>

One day turned it on, BUZZZZZZ! The IC for the audio outputs had shorted
the an input to one of the voltage inputs. Did look around for a
replacement IC, looked into building my own final: I'd have to
'cookbook' from established circuits but the circuits I liked didn't
have anywhere near the same voltages so finally removed my transformers
and sadly set it out for electroncis recycling.
