that is the way things are going... i have several CP437 bbses here and cannot
get full support in at least two OSes they run on... the other OS has 437 and
850 built in so i only had to set 437 as the default... it is rather
aggrivating that our existing ANSI/ASCII screens cannot be used with some of
the line drawing characters... they have to be converted to use the new glyphs
for those characters which are in a much different position in the character
table which is additionally much larger than the 256 positions we grew up
with...
