Yes, it was indeed. I suspect that any folks my age acting appalled about
it now used to say it a lot then.

Indeed. Part of it is probably the way they are raised, but I also think
part of it is how much exposure (and at how young) people have to social
media these days. That opens a whole new door to not only information but
also to a place to have more hurt feelings.

I don't think people realize how some politicians are groomed for that. I
remember reading years ago that the Kennedys were grooming their eldest for
an eventual Presidential run. He died, so they turned their focus on John.
He had already spent some time not being groomed which made things a little more
difficult.
