Hi Daryl!
BM>Makes sense: why waste all that food, and if the dog eats more that way
BM>he doesn't need as much dog food!
DS> Years ago, there was a brand of dog food called RECIPE...with a
DS> picture of Lassie (the famous collie) on it. I haven't seen that
DS> brand in a long time...but tragically, in some areas, elderly
DS> people were buying it, and eating it themselves, as it was
DS> cheaper than dog food.
I sort of remember that brand but has also heard "a lot" of elderly were
eating tinned cat and dog food because it cheaper than human food.
Seemed like the humans-eating-pet-food was a common story for a while
and now I don't recall hearing about it for years.
BM>Years ago we also had a similar type of commercials during dinner. I
BM>don't think it was Pepto Bismol and diarrhea but equally almost
BM>appetite-stopping.
DS> Nothing seems to be sacred anymore. Years ago, people would
DS> talk about their bowels and bladder, and wouldn't say a word
DS> about sex. Now, it's the other way around.
BM>Maybe Dr. Ruth should have been a proctologist!
DS> "Hello!! You Are On The Air!!" :P -- is she still around??
I haven't heard of her in years -- she went with the dog/cat food
eating? <g>
Per a quick Google she is still alive: Dr. Ruth Westheimer, 89 years
old.
BM>In some instances would work fine: if someone lives alone and has their
BM>computer/laptop tucked away from company they don't really need to have
BM>the security, so a lightweight password like 'INCORRECT' would be ideal!
DS> I have a password manager, and if it allowed high ascii
DS> characters, I'd use that as well. But without macros or password
DS> managers, you can't remember all that.
Right. I started off with a few pieces of paper, then one address book
(the loose leaf type so I could keep new sites in order), then two
address books. The address books were just about perfect: small size
(roughly 4 x 6") and fit on the shelf above the monitor. Used them for
years; had to discontinue because couldn't get refill paper any longer.
Switched to a 2" ring binder -- at least should be able to get refills
for as long as I'm alive!
BM>I usually get 'suspicious' when I don't see a little bit of stuff lying
BM>around to make the place look like a home rather than a house.
DS> My home is clean enough to be healthy...and dirty enough to be
DS> happy. Or "The house was clean last week -- sorry you missed
DS> it!!". <G>
Ha-ha! True!
BM>Just another reason why people shouldn't judge by appearances. One may
BM>look healthy but isn't. One may or may not take a job because of
BM>family (in you case your mother, in other cases husband and wife working
BM>opposite shifts so one will be always be home to take care of the
BM>children).
DS> Well, with my car in the shop again (oil pump may have gone
DS> out), I'm stuck here for a few days. At least she and I have
DS> plenty of food and drink, and no snow or ice is in sight.
A failing oil pump may explain that dashboard light! I think we're
supposed to have a ½" of snow tomorrow afternoon and then around 2" some
time Monday. Bettween the Super Bowl and the "blizzards" the grocery
stores just might have bare shelves!
BM>Though I wonder if a proctologist ever said something like that: "You
BM>know in hindsight maybe we should have taken care of that hemorrhoid!"
DS> Or what Eskimos get in the North Pole from sitting on the ice
DS> too long..."Polaroids". <G>
<groan> for both!
DS> Seriously, those are a real PITA...especially when preparing
DS> for a colonoscopy or other procedure.
Ha-ha! A friend of mine had his first colonoscopy maybe ten years ago
and they did find some polyps, so snip. Follow-up (probably the five
years later) there were no abnormalities. ..His main complaint re: the
prep for the last check was having to get up in the middle of the night
to take the 'Rotor Rooter' solution.
