OK, but odd. I've never had a LED half-fail like that: an all-or-none
situation. Can get them to dim by applying a little too much or a
little too little voltage. (For the others reading, I've been an
electronics hobbyist since Dad taking me there to test tubes because I
was too young to drive.)

This one probably won't get replaced as part of the front panel assembly
and good luck getting those apartment and better luch reassembling!

OK right. Simple circuit is power source, pulldown resistor, on/off
switch, LED. More complicated circuit is attached to some mystery
circuit.
