Hi Daryl!

BM>Agreed, having experienced the 'wonderful little critters'. The good
BM>news is I haven't been anywhere near maximum pain scale and hope I never
 BM>do.
DS> Mean little bastards is more like it. I am drinking 2 liters of
DS> flavored water a day...and I have Lasix on standby, if I feel
DS> real bloated. But, that's done ONLY if I'm not going to have to
DS> leave the apartment that day.

Gee, wasn't there a commercial years ago with the tag "get's you out of
the kitchen FAST"??!!!!! (Can't recall what the product was but let's
say it was a dishwashing detergent and the idea was it would do the work
of cleaning rather than someone scruubing the dishes, so gets the job
done quickly. Dad's and my oddball sense of humour turned the phrase
into a commercial for diarrhea.)

DS> As the saying goes, "it's better to be p!$$ed off than p!$$ed
DS> on". This was shown in truth, with a local ham radio operator
DS> awhile back. He was doing the clubs traffic net, and was holding
DS> his infant son in one arm, and the mic in the other. Well, his
DS> son didn't like the fact that Daddy wasn't giving him full
DS> attention, and he proceeded to urinate all down Daddy's arm. He
DS> had to call for his wife to "assist". He jokes that "I'm probably
DS> the only net control station who has had that happen to them!!".

At least it wasn't on the rig!

DS> His son will likely be a ham radio operator eventually, as some
DS> of the first words he learned were "CQ, Daddy!! CQ!!". His Dad
DS> had also done ham radio nets, contests, etc. But, it's so
DS> fulfilling when your children follow in your footsteps.

Oh! I figured the son would go 'wa-wa-wa WAH-WAH-WAH wa-wa-wa' when he
needed a change. [crying 'SOS']

BM>The random positioning of the numbers when entering one's PIN does make
BM>sense;; LIS, one needs to pay attention as the target is moving!
DS> This is true...it'll ask if you want to reset the code. I think
DS> of the picture from Facebook where the guy notes "I'm going to
DS> change my password to INCORRECT -- because every time I try to
DS> logon, it says 'your password is INCORRECT'". :P

Makes sense to me!

BM>It can never start AFAIC! They're talking about up to 50 MPH winds here
BM>Friday and Saturday. Today in the mid-30's, tomorrow maybe into the
BM>upper 40's. Forgot what they said about the weekend (not warm but not
BM>cold either), and next week back into the Artic chills.
DS> We had rain and fog overnight and this morning...more rain is
DS> forecast Thursday, changing to a wintry mix Thursday night. Some
DS> long range models are pointing at a significant winter storm here
DS> around Feb. 6 -- but that's in the long range, and more than 7
DS> days out. Besides, I've seen some model runs that call for
DS> hellacious snow and ice totals one run, and in the next run, it's
 DS> gone!!

All depends! Have heard forecasts where it is going to be cold but if
it snows it will be colder and if it doesn't then not so cold. Not that bluntly
but essentially that way.

BM>It's a way to get 'something for your troubles' without "charging"
 BM>your mother.
DS> This is true...and it's the right thing to do. However, I won't
DS> be able to help her for a few days. On the way to a ham radio
DS> license exam session in Jacksonville, Arkansas earlier today, my
DS> OIL WARNING LIGHT came on. I had just passed the car service
DS> place, so I had to double back, and drop it off. Then, I took a
DS> taxi to the test site, then a taxi back home afterwards. The car
DS> place closed at 12 Noon today...and I'm stuck here anyway through
DS> at least Tuesday, due to apartment inspections. So, I'll spend
DS> Sunday cleaning the place up.

Gee, that sounds like fun! Hopefully you Oil Light doesn't end up
costing like my incident Thursday. Just under freezing here, go out to
start the car. Click the key fob to unlock the doors - half-tries. Oh-
oh! Manually unlock and get in -- overhead light looks OK. Start the
car: urgh-bing-brt. Guess I need a new battery. ...Ends up with the
usual courtesy inspection I needed to have a few other things done so a
"slightly expensive battery". And no, not an issue of being taken
advantage of ('your brake light fluid is low') but stuff that slowly
fails and one doens't notice -- I can feel a difference in the way the
car handles. (And that brake light fluid really makes the brake lights
brighter! <gg>)

BM>Reminds me: ages ago I had one computer which for some reason I had an
BM>on/off switch for the HDD. Must have been a second drive, and wasn't to
BM>dual boot. The computer would not boot if both drives were active when
BM>power applied, but was fine if just one. (And yes, I probably has the
BM>M/S jumper or Cable Select correct.) Probably 25 years ago so long
 BM>gone.
DS> I've had external hard drives for the BBS computer, but rarely
DS> use them. I still have just over 120 Gigabytes of space, so I'm
DS> not hurting on space just yet.

I tend to collect information, stuff I can potentially use or of
interest. Now can easily jump on-line to find but not always, or with
me anyway: found once but can't find again. So have learned cheaper and
easier to keep a copy on my computer than to spend time looking for it
out there again. ...Even then when I know it's here still can be 'fun'
to find again!

BM> BM>... What type of lip moisturizer is best for butt-smooching your boss?
 BM> DS> Brown Cheep-Stick. <G>
 BM>Glad I don't need that any longer!
DS> You and me both. Retiring due to disability hasn't been my idea
DS> of a good time, but with declining health (I now have
DS> degenerative disk disease in my spinal column), there's no way I
DS> can work a regular job again.

My jobs/positions in retail weren't bad but not the most fun; glad to be
out of it. Was thinking I migth have to go back part-part time just to
supplement the income but isn't necessary. Was also thinking I'd go
back for something to do and socialize, don't really need that either.
