BM>Hi Daryl!
Hi, Barry...
BM>Agreed, having experienced the 'wonderful little critters'. The good BM>news
is I haven't been anywhere near maximum pain scale and hope I never BM>do.
Mean little bastards is more like it. I am drinking 2 liters of
flavored water a day...and I have Lasix on standby, if I feel real
bloated. But, that's done ONLY if I'm not going to have to leave the
apartment that day.
As the saying goes, "it's better to be p!$$ed off than p!$$ed on".
This was shown in truth, with a local ham radio operator awhile back. He
was doing the clubs traffic net, and was holding his infant son in one
arm, and the mic in the other. Well, his son didn't like the fact that
Daddy wasn't giving him full attention, and he proceeded to urinate all
down Daddy's arm. He had to call for his wife to "assist". He jokes that
"I'm probably the only net control station who has had that happen to
them!!".
His son will likely be a ham radio operator eventually, as some of the
first words he learned were "CQ, Daddy!! CQ!!". His Dad had also done
ham radio nets, contests, etc. But, it's so fulfilling when your
children follow in your footsteps.
BM>The random positioning of the numbers when entering one's PIN does make
BM>sense;; LIS, one needs to pay attention as the target is moving!
This is true...it'll ask if you want to reset the code. I think of the picture
from Facebook where the guy notes "I'm going to change my
password to INCORRECT -- because every time I try to logon, it says
'your password is INCORRECT'". :P
BM>It can never start AFAIC! They're talking about up to 50 MPH winds here
BM>Friday and Saturday. Today in the mid-30's, tomorrow maybe into the BM>upper
40's. Forgot what they said about the weekend (not warm but not BM>cold
either), and next week back into the Artic chills.
We had rain and fog overnight and this morning...more rain is forecast
Thursday, changing to a wintry mix Thursday night. Some long range
models are pointing at a significant winter storm here around Feb. 6 --
but that's in the long range, and more than 7 days out. Besides, I've
seen some model runs that call for hellacious snow and ice totals one
run, and in the next run, it's gone!!
BM>It's a way to get 'something for your troubles' without "charging" you
BM>mother.
This is true...and it's the right thing to do. However, I won't be
able to help her for a few days. On the way to a ham radio license exam
session in Jacksonville, Arkansas earlier today, my OIL WARNING LIGHT
came on. I had just passed the car service place, so I had to double
back, and drop it off. Then, I took a taxi to the test site, then a taxi
back home afterwards. The car place closed at 12 Noon today...and I'm
stuck here anyway through at least Tuesday, due to apartment
inspections. So, I'll spend Sunday cleaning the place up.
BM>Reminds me: ages ago I had one computer which for some reason I had an
BM>on/off switch for the HDD. Must have been a second drive, and wasn't to
BM>dual boot. The computer would not boot if both drives were active when
BM>power applied, but was fine if just one. (And yes, I probably has the BM>M/S
jumper or Cable Select correct.) Probably 25 years ago so long
BM>gone.
I've had external hard drives for the BBS computer, but rarely use
them. I still have just over 120 Gigabytes of space, so I'm not hurting
on space just yet.
BM> BM>... What type of lip moisturizer is best for butt-smooching your boss?
BM> DS> Brown Cheep-Stick. <G>
BM>Glad I don't need that any longer!
You and me both. Retiring due to disability hasn't been my idea of a
good time, but with declining health (I now have degenerative disk
disease in my spinal column), there's no way I can work a regular job
again.
Daryl
