Subject: AYN Odin 2 Pro (replaced the Powkiddy RGB10 Max 3) Date: Wed Feb 26 2025 09:58 am

Several months ago, I bought a Powkiddy RGB10 Max 3 handheld emulation console.
That's a nice handheld, though one thing that bugged me a bit was that the d-pad
was a little too sensitive. Although I was able to get used to it after playin
g a bit, I decided to buy something different. I ended up buying an AYN Odin 2
Pro - Though it's quite a bit more expensive, I heard good reviews about it (as
being one of the most powerful emulation handhelds on the market currently). I
bought a used one on eBay to save a bit of money, and the one I got is in pretty
 good (like new) condition.

The AYN Odin 2 Pro is a beast of a handheld. It can emulate up to Playstation 2
, so this is probably the most powerful emulation handheld I've had. Software-w
ise, it uses Android 13, and it didn't come with anything pre-installed, so it's
up to you to install emulators & ROMs on it. The one I bought has 256GB of sto
rage, so it has plenty of room for now. I've found some guides online for recom
mended apps & such, and I've found a fairly cool Android launcher oriented towar
d emulation, and it has a tab where you can scroll through various console syste
ms and list the games available on the device for that console, with thumbnails.

Interestingly, there are a couple of Playstation (PS1/PSX) games that I've playe
d on other devices which are having problems running on this device, even though
I'm using the best recommended Playstation emulator app (Duckstation). I'll hav
e to keep working through those issues, but for now I've found Playstation 2 ver
sions of those games that run fairly well on this device.

Sometimes I like playing sports video games (mainly baseball and soccer), and th
ere's a pretty good baseball game for Playstation 2 (MVP Baseball 2005) which I
put on this device, and it runs fairly well.

And naturally, games for NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, TurboGrafX-16, etc. play well
on this device. For those consoles, I installed RetroArch with various cores fo
r the different consoles.

Since the AYN Odin 2 Pro is an Android device, it can run basically any Android
app, though I don't plan to check my email or anything on this device. Also I d
on't think it can be updated beyond Android 13, but that's probably not a big is
sue, as it's mainly a gaming device.
