Yeah, I'm a little leery of the .30 Super. In the Shield you get 3
additional rounds as compared to the 9mm, which is a BIG deal. But, a
significantly lighter bullet (100gr vs 124gr) at only 100fps faster.
I've got to think that is less "stopping power".
Another factor in favor of the 9 is how common it is, and widely
available. In a SHTF scenario, you can find/take ammo and mags much
easier.
For now at least, the .30 Super doesn't do it for me.
As for the .40, I'm less of a fan than I used to be. Strong round no
doubt, but a little snappy and lower magazine capacity for a given size
of pistol. With modern ammo technology, I think the 9 is a better
choice. There's a reason the FBI and many/most police departments have
switched (back) to the 9mm. One place that I'd still carry the .40 (not
as a CC) would be a sidearm while out in the woods hunting with a rifle.
Would rather have the extra punch if needed for a coyote or similar.

Yes, the newest member of the XD family. Always liked them (and the
XDM), and that is indeed a nice price point. Hard for me to switch away
from S&W though.
