Barry,
DS> As noted earlier, I doubt any family has escaped the scourge of
DS> cancer.
BM> Probably not. May not know it/be official listed as people died
BM> earlier and from misclassified causes
Like what they're doing lately, saying folks died of COVID-19, when
that was NOT the actual cause of death.
BM> That should work. Seems like would get either a "thanks, and continue
BM> posting/distributing our information" or a cease-and-desist reply.
I just do it locally...but one has to be a verified user in good
standing, and at least 18 years of age, to see it.
DS> But, re-breathing your own CO2 is not good.
BM> Nope. SCUBA-type outfit releases the expelled air to the outside (as
BM> seen by the bubbles when underwater); the wearing of the five gallon
BM> water cooler container as protective gear won't expel the CO2. ...Hmm:
BM> could have one of those portable oxygen generators: if the amount of O2
BM> made is more would displace the CO2..... Or the generated O2 is piped
BM> directly to the nose: breath in O2 through the nose, exhale CO2 through the
BM> mouth.....
When I'm in the hospital, I don't breathe heavy, and the oxygen alarm
keeps going off.
BM> I'm thinking 'cigarette/tobacco tax' where one of the ideas of the tax
BM> was to make it so expensive as people would decide it wasn't worth the
BM> cost. Doesn't seem to have worked that way.
No, but even with the warnings for cancer, some feel that "I have to die
of something". :P
DS> Needless to say, since most ham radio operators are "frugal cheapskates",
DS> this will go over like a wet balloon. :P
BM> Isn't that 'lead balloon'? To me $50 seems rather high, as probably a
BM> lot of others. $5 would seem like a reasonable fee, especially for the
BM> printed copy option; maybe $10 for the first two options, though an
BM> additional charge for the new license sounds counter-productive. (A
BM> reasonable charge for the license makes sense, a charge on top doesn't,
BM> unless special, such as vanity.)
Probably so on the balloon. But, everyone knows the government nickels
and dimes us like crazy already.
BM> And they like to go from biggest to smallest amounts, so while a couple
BM> of $5 and $10 checks may have gone through but a $100 would not they'll
BM> push through the one $100 check first and then hit the customer with
BM> all the little ones that now aren't going through.
No kidding. I do my banking electronically, so I don't have to worry about
statements in the mail.
DS> Similar to warning them of an approaching tornado. In Arkansas,
DS> a tornado and a divorce have the same thing in common. Either
DS> way, you are going to lose the trailer. :P
BM> <groan!>
But, it's true. <G>
BM> For some reason reminds me: we had a new store manager, still learning
BM> the ropes though sometimes thinking she knew better because the book-
BM> learning said so. Tornado warning, sirens going off. The Fire
BM> Department had designated the Fitting Room by the Lingerie Deparment on the
BM> north side of the building as the safest area for various reasons,
BM> so we start going there. New store manager argues with us and tells us
BM> to go to the center of the building. Actually one of the unsafest
BM> parts because the 'penthouse' where the chiller, etc., is is above:
BM> could fall through, crushing us, burst pipes, etc.
So, nobody thought that through beforehand??
BM> Most of us (including myself) did make a compromise: to the center but
BM> not under the penthouse section. We knew where a re-inforced wall was
BM> -- held carpet samples from when was Furniture Department before the
BM> remodel. After we did file a grievance; we were right and she was
BM> wrong. (She eventually got fired for other issues.)
I think of the meme where this young woman was laying nude on the roof,
but she didn't realize it was a skylight down into the floors below...and,
it was distracting everyone else!! :P
DS> That's true. I just hope I don't need any more surgery. I'm to
DS> get full blood work next week, and find out if my Hemoglobin A1C
DS> is still at 6.1 -- but if it hits 7.0, then I've become Type 2
DS> diabetic, and that'll be a major game changer.
BM> Then you'lll need the sugarless cough drops!
I guess so.
BM> ... Paradox \par'-u-doks' Two physicians
DS> Can I take a turn for the nurse?? <G>
BM> You're going to if I approve or not!
DS> Wouldn't you?? ;)
BM> Well..... <g>
Gotcha. <G>
BM> From my viewpoint actually makes sense: a person's time is valueable. Maybe
BM> not monetarily but does have a value. Let us patients in the waiting room
BM> know what's going on and offer to reschedule: do that to
BM> one, two or three of us and caught up again. Also thought having a 'no
BM> appointments' time mid-morning and mid-afternoon would make sense: use that
BM> time to get caught up when running late, or use for paperwork or those
BM> emergency appointments.
As noted, I'd rather be early than late. Sometimes, they will take me
early. At least with just getting shots or blood work, the wait isn't
that long. It's the actual consultation, prep, or procedure, that takes
so long.
DS> She was just irritated that I was going back before her.
BM> Yup. Again her problem; she didn't know the complete story.
More like impatient.
BM> We were watching an old show last night and part of the episode was
BM> about the lottery being at $17 million. At the time a lot of money,
BM> now seems most lottery players consider that chump change. (Heck, I'd
BM> be happy with $10 million! Even a million would be nice!)
On the annuity released a year after my Mom's death, I have to pay a
$4027 claim to the State Of Arkansas, then decided for the people to take
out 20% for taxes. I figured I'd have better luck in getting a refund
back next spring...but it also likely means that I can't get the generator,
or do that "one last train trip".
