Hi Daryl!

BM>Ouch! Just another good reason fpr us humans to very very careful around
 BM>electricity.
DS> As little as 1 amp...likely less than that...will do you in.

IIRC less than that, depending on the voltage and the path.

BM>I periodically clean my own with what's marketed as an infant's suction
BM>bulb for removing mucus; blow out a warm water stream instead of sucking
BM>in the stuff. Doctors report it's clean inside!
DS> The problem with me, is that I can't stand for more than a
DS> minute or two at the sink, in front of the toilet (even with one
DS> hand one the wall, and the other on the handrail next to the
DS> toilet...and hope I can "hit my target" <G>), or in the
DS> shower...without my legs spasming, and my back hurting. I'm in
DS> early stages of degenerative disk disease in my spinal
 DS> column...confirmed by CT Scan.

That would tend to create a few problems! ...Some people don't know
they can do stuff. Decades ago I had a wax build up even though I
irrigated to clean my ears. Dr.: SQUIRT!!! I had been doing *dribble*.

BM>Probably due to electric windows: with the old crank style could roll
 BM>down.
DS> My 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier still has the crank style windows.

Would that be classified as 'old'? <gg>

DS> My internet crapped out on me for 35 minutes last night, right
DS> before I was to do a weather net. Thankfully, others were there
DS> to take my place while I was offline, and I was able to get back
DS> in before the net ended.

Bad, good and good! I haven't lost the 'Internet' totally in some time
<knock on wood!> but over the weekend I couldn't do e-mail. Do it here
with Thunderbird, tried it directly on the website - same issues, though
did get an error stating the server was too slow. I just waited things
out and did something besides e-mail; next morning things back to
normal, except I had the Trash and Sent directories overflowing with
some 1400+ messages each!

DS> We're supposed to get snow overnight into Tuesday, so I'll be
DS> stuck here for the rest of the week.

It was 2° when I checked around 7 a.m. with a wind chill in the negative
teens. One of the top local news stories is a big fire at a popular
restaurant on the Illinois side overnight; firefighters are working in
15 minute shifts to avoid frostbite.

BM>Of course they will! Though they have to be careful because the
BM>consumer can and will jump to a competitor. That competitor may have
BM>the same cost increase but if they are willing to wait longer for the
BM>recovery it will look to be a better deal to the buyer.
DS> This is true. Some folks like to drive all around town, trying
DS> to find the best place to buy gasoline, or the bank with the best
DS> interest rates. You rarely will find a gas station now that
DS> offers a "full service deal" (at considerably higher prices). I
DS> remember the "gas wars" in south Florida 50 years ago. The prices
DS> were approaching 40 cents a gallon, and my late father lamented
 DS> "I don't know what we'll do when gas hits 40 cents a gallon".
DS> Shoot, what we wouldn't give for those prices!!

<chuckle> The problem is wages were were also considerably less, so one
needs to account for the various costs in a 'common dollar value'.
There is a term for doing that, just I don't know what it is. IIRC
electronic devices can be purchased for almost pennies compared to their
1960's-equivalent prices.

I have purchased gas late last year for around $1.50/gallon. Local
grocery store chain offers a Perks Card and buy certain items during
certain promotions one gets money off when purchasing gas at their gast station
or a handful of participating dealers. Since I don't drive that
much since retiring not that big a deal but I still prefer when I can
pay less.

BM>Several years ago (probably longer than that implies!) I destroyed mine
 BM>by cutting with scissors.
DS> A strong magnet would've done just as well.

Right; I don't think I have a strong magnet around here. Have magnets,
but if sufficient flux no idea. And at the time no easy way to verify
the data had been altered so safer for me to physically destroy. (Yes,
have a floppy drive but at the time XP had issues with reading
floppies.)
