A lot of GPUs have built-in h264 hardware acceleration. I don't know the state o
f
hardware h264 acceleration, but it's probably much more spotty, particularly if 
it's
an older laptop. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that your machine just doesn't hav
e any
hardware acceleration for h265
