Kris,
KJ>As much as I would like to offer, I am tight my self. The worse part is that
KJ>know your situation. Only a few days over a year ago I lost my mother. She w
KJ>the only parent I had growing up. I feel you totally. Luckily my mom had som
KJ>money set aside for me to deal with her funeral and buy a house here in
KJ>Indiana. After that, I am pretty much broke. I really wish I could man!
I'm in the same boat as you are, being fully disabled, on a fixed
income, and doing much of the driving and other stuff for my Mom. I had
to pay over $500 in medical bills last month, which was nearly half of
what I get the entire month in disability.
What angers me no end is that you have:
1) Fat Cat CEO's (among others) saying their millions and billions of
dollars in salaries and bonuses aren't enough.
2) Politicians (and probably lobbyists) making huge salaries. In the politicians
case, members of Congress get FULL PAY AND BENEFITSA,
whether they're serving or retired.
3) Certain professions getting $1000 an hour.
4) And, those like myself, fully disabled, are lucky to get $1000 a
month.
WHERE IS THE JUSTICE??!! Truly "The Love Of Money is the root of all
evil".
All the money spent on politicial and presidential campaigns with
t-shirts, caps, jackets, signs, banners, billboard wraps, ads in radio,
TV, internet, magazine, newspaper, etc. -- would pay off the national
debt, and give Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid plenty of
resources. Yet, the politicians have filled those 3 with just
"IOU's"...dipping into them to fund other "pet projects". The only time
they come to us is when it's re-election time. They forget that serving
is a "privilege" and NOT a "lifetime right" (see Supreme Court
justices).
The politicians would NEVER accept or agree to:
1) Removal of all political "pork" in bills.
2) Term limits (you serve no more than 2 terms, then you go home).
3) A max of 20% of total salary and benefits after they retire.
KJ>How ever if you need some grievance relief , please do not hesitate to ask.
KJ>have a friend to lean on! It is not easy! It is still shocking to me that my
KJ>mom is not here anymore. I should be bothered by the fact that I still ask l
KJ>for a daily favor that doesnt get granted..
I've been "a shoulder to cry on" for some people over the years...both
on the BBS and recently on Facebook. My wife has been dead going on 8
1/2 years now (she died of a massive heart attack, nearly 3 months after
my Dad died of pancreatic cancer). While I'm busier than I was when I
was married, some days, it still gets awfully lonely. But, with all I do
for my Mom, and the way the world is going now, I seriously doubt I'll
ever re-marry. While I didn't get married for the first time until I was
43, I never dreamed I'd be a widower at 47.
