Hi Ky!
Follow-up to the reply from previous in this packet -- comments and
questions.
Found out I did something minor stupid: identified the UPS with the
failed battery as the wrong one! Good news: correct unit; bad news was
just the wrong brand. Have two UPSs sitting side by side and for some
reason had called the (brand names) Opti-UPS as Energizer. Had checked
this afternoon on if the unit was warm (it is, but not nearly as warm as
before replacing the batteries) and glanced at the next-door UPS -- why
is it saying "Energizer"?!
Other thing is wanted to check out NUTS (Network UPS Tool) so went to
their site's compatibility list -- Opti-UPS has two models listed but
not the one I have; could try both drivers listed. Energizer isn't
listed at all -- I'm thinking my Energizer ER-Pro 1000 is a rebranded
somebody-or-other but haven't found that info.
So thinking I should swap out the Opti-UPS (the one that failed by
whatever name! <g>). Huh: Amazon has two for sale at $134.50. (Wonder
if these two units come with the original batteries??!!). Easy enough
to swap over to the Energizer UPS (the next-door unit) which just runs
my test bench. Trouble is the 'spare' UPSs (not currently being used)
are low-power. Plus there is the issue of the Energizer UPS not being
listed by NUTS so I may or may not select the correct driver.
